Bruny Island & Fat Pig Farm, Tasmania

Fat Pig Farm and Bruny Island Tasmania is one our favourite private family day experiences. Clients spend the day between the stunning farm-gate produce regions of the Huon Valley and Bruny Island. Enjoy personalised and tutored tastings with local makers, from freshly shucked oysters to sheep’s whey vodka and dairy fresh cheese. Coastal walks, stunning views, fascinating tales and the chance to see native wildlife by car, foot and scenic ferry.

Fat Pig Farm is a 70-acre family farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, south of Hobart. Founded by famous celebrity chef Matthew Evans, they have been nurturing food from the soil to turn into great meals for the farmhouse table. Since 2011. Matt will privately host a cooking experience, farm tour and gourmet feast on the farm, usually a few treats to boot – and these guys are amazing. It is a bit more rough around the edges making it uniquely Tasmanian and their star is rising and is very special.

The farm experience is hands-on, you get to visit the animals, raid the garden and learn about sustainable food and farming. Matthew and wife Sadie value the greater community, regenerating landscapes and teaching biodiversity. Along with their namesake Wessex Saddleback pigs, the farm is home to chooks, a beef herd, goats, bees, ducks and a market garden. They also milk a few full cream cows, harvest apples and have planted an olive grove. All of which are completely accessible for our guests.
